a bit about me

Solo guitar/vocalist

Since I began performing as a solo acoustic singer, I’ve had the pleasure of entertaining thousands of people as a wedding singer, event musician and corporate party entertainer all over the UK and Ireland and across the globe. A few long stints on cruise ships, travelling the world one sunburn at a time, helped me build an impressive repertoire that is ever expanding! Ranging from Rat Pack to Blues, Country to Pop, Rock’n’Roll to Hip Hop and even a select few acoustic guitar Rap songs, there will be something for everyone! I find a lot of joy in creating new arrangements and different interpretations of songs that we already know and love, but there are some classics that have to be performed as the originals!

Classically Trained Actor

David Marken wedding singerBorn and raised in Belfast and having been involved with performance all my life, I fell in love with theatre at an early age. Through my parents and the AmDram circles they were (and still are!) involved in in Belfast, I was raised in the wings and lighting boxes of theatres. Working my way through from the background to centre stage inspired me to follow it as a career! I trained as a classical actor at The Guildford School of Acting, completed my training in 2012 and went on to work in theatres all over London up and down the country. Some particular highlights include playing Romeo more times than I care to mention, working with the Salisbury Playhouse and The Lord Chamberlain’s Men and a wonderful winter of puppetry in the West End.

What about when I'm not performing

Ben MacduiAs much as I’m passionate about performance, a few other things do occupy my time! I grew up as a rock climber, so I can usually be found in the mountains or planning my next cliff-side trip. The travel bug caught me early on and was made a permanent feature from my time on cruise ships; so far I’ve been to 64 countries and counting! Particular highlights include Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, India and Brazil. The photo above was on top of Ben Macdui in the Scottish Highlands, the day after performing for a wedding at the very beautiful Drumtochty Castle.
